Café Hyde Park
82 out of 100. My Score: the CigarSolace Scale
A classic, mild cigar whose greatest strengths were its construction and pairing potential.
The Experience
A classic, mild cigar whose greatest strengths were its construction and pairing potential.
From the first draw, the profile showed an oily texture with soft cedar, toasted nuts, light coffee, and subtle natural sweetness. As the smoke progressed, the wood became drier and the coffee notes more pronounced, accompanied by a growing bitterness.
The cappuccino played an important role in the experience. Its milk, sweetness, and creamy texture softened the sharper edges while complementing the cigar’s coffee and nutty character. Once the drink was finished, the cigar’s drier and more bitter side became much more noticeable.
Construction was excellent, with a consistent draw, stable burn, compact ash, and dependable smoke production throughout.
The Macanudo Café Hyde Park is a well-made, traditional cigar with a gentle profile. For my palate, it was best enjoyed alongside a creamy coffee that helped create a more balanced experience.
