Accessibility Commitment

A slow pleasure should be open to everyone.

CigarSolace is built so that every reader can explore cigar notes, stories and guides comfortably: with a keyboard, a screen reader, a magnifier, a phone in one hand or less motion on screen. Accessibility is part of how the site is designed and written, not something added at the end.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we keep checking as the site grows.

What we have built in

Designed for every reader

  1. Keyboard first

Every link, menu, filter and form works with the keyboard alone. A “Skip to content” link leads straight to the page.

  2. A focus you can see

A clear bronze ring shows where you are on every page, and it is never hidden behind the header.

  3. Readable contrast

Text and controls are chosen to stay legible against both our dark and ivory backgrounds.

  4. Words for every image

Every photograph and illustration carries a text description, so the notes make sense when they are heard instead of seen.

  5. Clear structure

Headings, landmarks and labelled menus help screen readers move through notes, filters and stories in a logical order.

  6. Calm motion

Animations are gentle, and they switch off when your device asks for reduced motion.

  7. Room to zoom

Pages adapt from large screens to small phones and keep working when text is enlarged.

  8. Forms that explain

Every field has a visible label, and errors are described in words, not only with color.

  9. Two languages

English and Spanish pages are marked with their language, so assistive technology reads each one correctly.

Conformance status

Our goal is to conform to WCAG 2.2 at Level AA. The site has not had an external audit; we review it ourselves, and the parts that do not fully conform yet are listed under Known limitations.

Compatibility

The site is designed for current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on desktop, Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android, together with screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA and TalkBack. It uses HTML, CSS and a little JavaScript; the content can be read even with JavaScript turned off.

Known limitations

  • The Cigar Notes filters need JavaScript. Without it, the full list of cigars is shown.
  • Some notes do not have a Spanish version yet. For those, the language link leads to the Spanish home page.
  • The guide illustrations carry a text description, but the small labels inside each drawing are not repeated one by one.
  • Posts and videos linked on Instagram and TikTok live on those platforms, whose accessibility we do not control.

We keep working on them.

Age confirmation

CigarSolace is for adults of legal age. The age question appears before the content, can be answered with one click, the keyboard or a screen reader, and never asks for a birthdate or personal data. The answer is stored only on your device for 30 days; we explain this in our Privacy page.

An ongoing commitment

New notes, stories and features are reviewed with the same care before they are published. Some content comes from Instagram and from outside sources, and we work to bring it up to the same standard.

Feedback and help

We keep listening.
