The Experience
Slowing things down.
From the start, it opens balanced — wood, cacao, and a subtle natural sweetness. It suggests a rounder experience, but quickly leans into a drier, more spiced profile.
As it moves, that character holds. Toasted notes, light nuttiness, and a well-integrated white pepper give it structure, though on the drier side of the spectrum.
It stays consistent… until it doesn’t.
Toward the latter part of the second third, it begins to soften. The profile refines, and that natural sweetness finally comes forward, bringing it closer to its intended balance.
You can sense the Jalapa influence there — just expressed in a more restrained way.
The construction holds throughout. Clean burn. Steady delivery.
It leans more toward dryness and spice than creaminess or roundness. A more structured expression.
A sweeter whiskey works well here. It helps bring forward the softer side of the profile.
Final Thoughts
“Well built. Coherent in its direction. Just a different balance from what I usually gravitate toward.”
