John Calvin is one of the lines of Reformed Cigars, the brand Al Gomez and his team make by hand in Estelí, Nicaragua, to support church planters. Like its sister lines, it carries the name of a reformer: John Calvin, the 16th-century French theologian.
My two notes on the Habano Gold Label tell a story in themselves. The first time it was a dry, spiced Habano that only found its balance in the last third, at 85 points. The second time the flavors were much more integrated, with wood, cacao and white pepper, and it reached 88.
