The Experience
This experience reminded me how much cigar storage matters.
My previous experience with the Melanio Maduro Toro was excellent, so I came into this one expecting something similar. Before lighting it, the cigar already felt unusually dry and brittle despite spending nearly two months in my humidor.
Throughout the smoke, I found notes of cocoa, roasted coffee, and dark wood that hinted at the profile I remembered. The burn remained reasonably consistent and the cigar held together well.
The challenge was the overall balance. Instead of the richness and creaminess I expected, the profile felt noticeably drier and more bitter. Brief flashes of the blend’s potential appeared throughout the smoke, but never fully developed.
Final Thoughts
“Because of my previous experience with this line, I don’t believe this cigar represented the Melanio Maduro at its best. More than anything, it was a reminder that storage conditions can dramatically shape the final experience.”
