Tatuaje is bringing back its Boris Karloff cigar, the tribute to the actor who played Frankenstein’s monster and The Mummy. As in past years, it arrives in a new size: this time a 6 1/4 x 47 grand corona.
Tatuaje explains the changing shape with a nod to Karloff himself. He transformed for every role, so the company gives the cigar a different vitola each time it comes back.
The details:
- Size: 6 1/4 x 47, grand corona
- Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra
- Binder and filler: Nicaraguan
- Production: 2,000 boxes of 20, or 40,000 cigars
- Price: $15 per cigar, $300 per box
- Factory: My Father Cigars S.A., Estelí, Nicaragua
The cigars are shipping to select stores now, timed so smokers can light one on Nov. 23, Karloff’s birthday. The name and likeness are used under license from Karloff Enterprises and Sara Karloff.
This is the third size in the Boris Karloff line, which began in January 2025 with a 5 5/8 x 49 and added a 5 1/4 x 52 robusto in November 2025. Its roots go back further, to a cigar called The Boris, created alongside Tatuaje’s Monster Series as the start of an “Actor Series” that never took shape. One earlier spin-off, the 6 5/8 x 49 Tatuaje Karloff, was named halfwheel’s Cigar of the Year in 2020.
