Davidoff Launches a City Edition for Las Vegas and New York
Two robusto extras, one for each city, will be sold only at Davidoff's own stores in Las Vegas and New York starting November 2.
Davidoff has announced a new City Edition series, made for its own flagship stores. The first two cigars are named for Las Vegas and New York, and both go on sale on Monday, November 2.
Each city gets a 5 1/2 x 55 robusto extra in boxes of 10, at $49 per cigar or $490 per box. They are made at Cigars Davidoff in the Dominican Republic.
On paper the two share a blend: Ecuadorian wrapper and binder over Dominican fillers. They are not the same cigar, though. The wrappers look different, and Davidoff says the Las Vegas version includes some filler tobacco aged in wine barrels. The company describes Las Vegas as “fresh pepper and spice” and New York as coffee, wood and oak.
Javier González, who leads global marketing and innovation at Oettinger Davidoff, said in the announcement that this is the first time the company has created a series that belongs entirely to the cities behind it, with a blend and box for each that cannot be found anywhere else.
The Las Vegas cigar will be sold at the Davidoff store there. The New York cigar will be offered at the company’s three Davidoff of Geneva stores in the city.
