About My Father
My Father is Jaime García's tribute to his father, José "Pepín" García, one of the great master rollers of Cuba. The family had its own factory there from the 1930s until the Cuban government took it over in 1963. In the nineties Pepín worked as a master roller and trained other rollers on the island.
Pepín and Jaime moved to Nicaragua in 2001, and in 2003 the family opened El Rey de los Habanos, a small factory in Miami's Little Havana. In 2006 they built Tabacalera Cubana in Nicaragua, in 2008 they bought their first farm, La Estrella, and that same year Jaime created the My Father brand. The My Father Cigars factory opened in Estelí in 2009, and by 2011 the company grew all of its own Nicaraguan tobacco.
Cigar Aficionado has named their cigars Cigar of the Year three times: the Flor de las Antillas Toro in 2012, the My Father Le Bijou 1922 Torpedo Box Pressed in 2016 and The Judge Grand Robusto in 2024. Today they have nearly 20 farms in Nicaragua and about 5,500 employees, and in 2025 they released My Father Blue, their first Honduran cigar.
I have two My Father notes. The My Father Blue MMXXV scored 91.
