About Foundation

Nick Melillo started in 1996 running the humidor of the Calabash Shoppe in Connecticut, where he met Jonathan Drew. In 2003 he joined Drew Estate as director of tobaccos and production and later became vice president of international operations. In 2014 he left, thinking that otherwise he might never create his own brands.

In 2015 he founded Foundation Cigar Co. in Connecticut. His first brand was El Güegüense, "The Wise Man", made at Aganorsa's TABSA factory in Estelí. Then came The Wise Man Maduro, The Tabernacle, made at A.J. Fernández's factory, The Upsetters, Charter Oak and Highclere Castle.

My Foundation note is The Wise Man Maduro Corona, which scored 82.
