About El Rey del Mundo

El Rey del Mundo, "the King of the World", is believed to have been created in 1848 by the German businessman Emilio Ohmstedt, along with Sancho Panza. Around 1882 the Spaniard Antonio Allones took it over, and in 1905 his company was bought by Díaz Hermanos y Cía, which moved production to a factory in Havana. One version is still made in Cuba for Habanos S.A.

Outside Cuba, the Villazon family made a Honduran version. Today the non-Cuban brand belongs to the Scandinavian Tobacco Group and is sold by Forged Cigar Co. The Appointment, which shipped in April 2025, is made at STG Danlí with a Cameroon-seed wrapper grown by the Eiroa family on their farm in Danlí, a Connecticut broadleaf binder and filler from Ecuador and Nicaragua.

My note is the Appointment Toro, all about aroma and balance, which scored 90.
