About Camacho

Camacho was founded in 1962 by Simón Camacho, a cigar maker in Miami, who died in 1990. In 1995 the brand passed to the Eiroa family, Cuban tobacco people who had left the island after the revolution. Julio Eiroa had started growing tobacco in Honduras in 1963, and in 1987 he founded Caribe Imported Cigars in Miami.

In the early 2000s the Camacho Corojo made the Eiroa name known across the United States. In 2008 the Oettinger Davidoff group bought Camacho and its factory in Danlí, Honduras, while the Eiroas kept their Honduran tobacco fields. Its lineup includes the Triple Maduro and the Connecticut.

I have two Camacho notes: the Connecticut, at 87 points, and the Triple Maduro, at 86.
