About A.J. Fernandez

Abdel J. Fernández, A.J., was born in Cuba in March 1979, in a tobacco family: San Lotano, the brand he would later revive, started in San Luis, Cuba. In 2003 he left the island to work for the Plasencia family in Nicaragua, and a year later he opened his first factory, in a garage, with six rollers.

He grew fast making cigars for other companies. In 2008 he was rolling cigars for Rocky Patel at his Tafenic factory in Estelí, and in 2009 he created Man O' War and Diesel for Cigars International. In 2010 he revived San Lotano, his grandfather's brand. Today his cigars are rolled at the large Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua in Estelí.

In 2024 he celebrated 20 years with the AJF 20th Anniversary. In March 2025 a fire at the Estelí factory damaged the packaging department and destroyed millions of cigars.

My A.J. Fernandez note is the New World, which scored 88.
