La Flor Dominicana has added a new installment to a series many smokers thought was finished. Chapter III was announced on October 27 as the company’s exclusive for retailers in the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA), whose yearly meeting is taking place this week at Casa de Campo, in the Dominican Republic.
The series began with Chapter One in 2013 and continued with Capitulo II in 2014. All three use LFD’s signature Chisel, a box-pressed 58 ring gauge torpedo whose head ends in a flat, angled edge instead of the usual point. What changes from chapter to chapter is the wrapper: Brazilian on the first, Nicaraguan on the second, and now Mexican San Andrés on the third. Binder and filler come from the company’s own farm in La Canela, Dominican Republic.
The cigar comes in boxes of 10 at $20 per cigar. A total of 3,000 boxes were offered to TAA stores. Litto Gomez Jr. told halfwheel that the TAA exclusivity will last one year, which suggests more boxes will follow after that, and that the company hopes to have Chapter III on shelves in December.
