Joya de Nicaragua is bringing back the Cuatro Cinco Edición Americana, a version of its Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial line made only for the member stores of the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA). The company made it from 2021 to 2023, and this is its third time.
The cigar is a 6 x 54 box-pressed belicoso. It has a criollo wrapper from Jalapa, Nicaragua, a Dominican binder, and Nicaraguan filler that includes some tobacco aged in white oak barrels that once held rum.
Production stays at 500 boxes. The price goes up from $15 per cigar in 2023 to $16.50, or $165 per box.
Juan Ignacio Martínez, executive president of Joya de Nicaragua, pointed out in the announcement that both the TAA and his company were founded in 1968, and called the release a way to thank the specialty stores that introduce smokers to their cigars.
The TAA’s 2026 meeting runs Oct. 25 to 29 at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic, where its members order these exclusive cigars.
