Crowned Heads Brings Back Belgian Blue for a Third Year
The strong limited edition returns with the same ligero-heavy blend in a new, smaller box-pressed robusto extra, shipping next week.
Crowned Heads will ship the Belgian Blue LE 2026 next week, making this the third year in a row for the limited edition.
The name comes from the Belgian Blue, a heavily muscled breed of cattle, and the cigar is meant to be strong. The blend has not changed: a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, an Ecuadorian binder, and filler from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. According to the company, 75 percent of the tobacco comes from the ligero priming, the leaves at the top of the plant that carry the most strength.
What changes is the size. Each edition has used a different vitola, and this year’s is the smallest so far, a 5 1/4 x 54 box-pressed robusto extra. The 2024 cigar was a 6 x 54 and the 2025 one a 5 1/2 x 56.
Jon Huber, president and co-founder of Crowned Heads, said in the announcement that the cigar was blended for flavor and intensity first, with strength as a by-product, and that demand in recent years led them to bring it back.
As before, it is made at D’Hatuey Tabacos S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. Production is 2,500 boxes of 12 cigars, or 30,000 cigars, the same as last year. The suggested price is $12.50 per cigar, or $150 per box.
