J.C. Newman’s exclusive for the member stores of the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA) this year comes from its own past. The Brick House Beginnings Ciento Por Ciento is the same cigar the company made for the TAA in 2019 and 2023, with the same 6 1/4 x 54 size and the same blend, but aged for five years.
“Ciento por ciento” means 100 percent, a nod to the fact that every leaf is Nicaraguan, finished with a habano wrapper from Jalapa. Beginnings is the name J.C. Newman uses for an occasional series of well-aged cigars; it last appeared at the TAA in 2021, in three sizes.
Drew Newman, the company’s owner, recalled in the announcement that Brick House was first rolled in 1937 and is named for the house where his great-grandfather was born in 1875, the only brick house in his village.
The cigars come in boxes of 10 at $12 each, or $120 per box. Newman told halfwheel they are ready to ship, so they should reach member stores in the first week of November.
The TAA meets Oct. 25 to 29 at Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic. Joya de Nicaragua and Ferio Tego are also offering cigars from their past this year.
