About Cohiba
Cohiba was born in 1966 in Cuba as a private, limited blend for Fidel Castro and senior officials. It was inspired by the cigars of a local roller, Eduardo Rivera, and Avelino Lara, head of the El Laguito factory, was asked to create the blend. Cubatabaco formally launched it in 1968, and it was first sold to the public in 1982, during the World Cup in Spain.
In 1992 Habanos launched the Línea 1492, named for the centuries since Columbus's voyage, with the Siglo I to V. The Siglo VI was added in 2002 and received 93 points from Cigar Aficionado.
There are two Cohibas. In the United States, General Cigar registered the name in 1978 and began making it at scale in the Dominican Republic in 1997. It is known as the "Red Dot" Cohiba, for the red dot in the O. The fight over the name between General Cigar and Cubatabaco has gone through U.S. courts for years.
My notes include both: the Siglo VI, which was my first authentic Cuban, at 93 points, and the Red Dot Churchill and the Rubicon from General Cigar.

Went into this one with almost no expectations — and it genuinely surprised me.
